In a recent meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the importance of fostering stronger cooperation and sustaining the positive trajectory in China-India relations. He met with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to discuss enhancing bilateral ties.
Wang Yi highlighted the necessity for both nations to boost high-level exchanges and broaden their collaboration across various sectors, including trade, media, culture, and people-to-people interactions. He advocated for the management of sensitive issues through dialogue and urged for increased coordination on regional and international matters. According to Wang, China and India should join forces to advance multipolarity and advocate for the interests of developing countries.
Expressing support for India, Wang reaffirmed Beijing’s backing for India’s role as host of the current BRICS summit. He called for strengthened collaboration within the expanded BRICS framework, underscoring the potential for deeper partnerships among the member countries.
Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar conveyed India’s dedication to nurturing a positive and cooperative relationship with China. He reiterated India’s established stance on sensitive issues such as Taiwan and Xizang (Tibet), affirming India’s respect for China’s sovereignty over these regions.
This meeting signifies ongoing efforts from both sides to stabilize their relationship and enhance cooperation, reflecting recent improvements in their bilateral interactions.
