India and UAE Expand Economic Ties and Strategic Partnership

The recent visit of Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to the United Arab Emirates, from November 1 to 2, underscored a concerted effort by both nations to deepen their economic and strategic ties. During his stay in Abu Dhabi, Misri engaged in a series of discussions aimed at bolstering the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UAE, highlighting their shared commitment to advancing collaboration across various sectors.

In a key meeting with UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy, the discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring new areas for collaboration. The two officials also exchanged views on regional and global developments, reflecting the strategic dimension of their partnership.

Misri’s itinerary included a meeting with Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism. Their conversation revolved around opportunities for cultural exchange and institutional cooperation, with a particular emphasis on the proposed House of India museum. This initiative aims to showcase Indian art, history, and heritage, potentially boosting tourism between the two nations.

Furthering economic engagement was another focal point of Misri’s visit, as evidenced by his meeting with Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Finance and group CEO of L’Imad Holding Company. The talks centered on increasing investment flows and developing long-term commercial partnerships, signaling a mutual interest in expanding economic ties.

The visit highlighted the robust relationship between India and the UAE, as both countries seek to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, culture, and strategic affairs. This series of high-level discussions reflects their ongoing efforts to identify new opportunities for collaboration and reinforce the strategic partnership that has been progressively built over the years.
