Google has introduced its Gemini in Chrome artificial intelligence features to Android users in India, enhancing the browsing experience with AI-powered tools directly integrated into the Chrome browser. This update allows users to perform tasks like summarizing webpages and connecting information across Google services such as Gmail and Calendar, along with generating images.
One of the key features being rolled out is the auto-browse functionality, available to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers. This feature enables Gemini to navigate through websites and complete tasks on behalf of users, such as comparing products, finding deals, booking event tickets, and making reservations. It is designed to handle complex, multi-step processes that normally require users to switch between several webpages and actions.
To ensure safe interaction with websites, Google has implemented safeguards within Gemini. These measures include identifying potential threats like prompt-injection attempts. Users may also be prompted to confirm sensitive actions before they are executed, ensuring a level of security when AI systems perform tasks like submitting forms or making online transactions.
The extent to which users can utilize the auto-browse feature depends on their subscription level. Google AI Pro subscribers are limited to 20 multi-step requests per day, whereas Google AI Ultra subscribers can make up to 200 requests daily. This expansion signifies Google’s effort to integrate more advanced AI capabilities into its browser, moving beyond simple AI interactions to more sophisticated task management across the web.
