The Delhi government is set to initiate a comprehensive welfare and infrastructure campaign named Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, beginning on September 17. Announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, this month-long campaign aims to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service. As part of the initiative, projects valued at approximately ₹13,800 crore will be launched or have their foundations laid across various parts of the national capital.
A notable event of the campaign includes a significant blood donation drive slated for September 17, with a target of collecting 2,500 units. In addition to this, the government will advocate for organ donation and organize health camps specifically designed for senior citizens. The campaign also plans extensive drives for sanitation and the cleaning of the Yamuna river, alongside registration camps for government welfare schemes in all 70 assembly constituencies.
Integral to the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan is the launch of projects related to the Yamuna, estimated at around ₹8,000 crore. The campaign will also honor more than 4,000 Anganwadi and ASHA workers for their contributions. Educational initiatives are included in the campaign, targeting students and young people from approximately 5,000 schools. These will feature painting and speech competitions, as well as an innovation challenge aimed at fostering ideas for a developed India.
The campaign’s extensive project lineup encompasses diverse sectors. Among these are ₹8,000 crore allocated to Delhi Jal Board works, ₹2,800 crore for Public Works Department (PWD) projects, ₹1,500 crore for power-sector initiatives, ₹365 crore for irrigation and flood-control projects, and ₹77 crore aimed at boosting tourism. These projects reflect a broad commitment to enhancing the city’s infrastructure and welfare offerings.
