Tech Audit Influences Ram Temple Trust’s Decision on Rai’s Resignation

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust has announced the acceptance of resignations from General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra, amid an ongoing investigation into alleged misappropriation of funds intended for the construction of the Ram Mandir. The Trust’s treasurer, Govind Giri, confirmed that these resignations align with the organization’s constitutional requirements. While making the announcement, Giri also acknowledged Rai’s significant contributions to the Trust since its early days.

The resignations were prompted by accusations of financial irregularities related to the counting of temple donations. Senior Trust member Pankaj Jaiswal expressed deep disappointment over the incident, labeling it both painful and shameful. He emphasized the gravity of any misconduct involving the donations from devotees, declaring such acts unacceptable.

In response to the leadership changes, the Trust has appointed Krisha Mohan as the interim General Secretary. Govind Giri will continue his role as the treasurer during this transitional period. The Trust is expected to reconvene on July 22, by which time the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is anticipated to present its final report.

Govind Giri reiterated the Trust’s commitment to accountability, stating unequivocally that no individual found guilty will be shielded from legal consequences, regardless of their position within the organization. The investigation, which has already resulted in the arrest of eight individuals, is still ongoing as authorities seek to uncover the full extent of the alleged embezzlement.
