Tensions flared in the Lok Sabha as Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of authorizing force against students protesting the NEET paper leak. Gandhi alleged that the use of pellets on the demonstrators was sanctioned at the highest levels, a claim that triggered strong objections from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In response, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju demanded that Gandhi provide evidence to substantiate his claims, describing the allegations as unfounded. Rijiju called for the remarks to be struck from the official records and insisted that Gandhi apologize for making serious accusations without proof.
The altercation escalated when Gandhi leveled criticism against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and used language that Speaker Om Birla deemed “unparliamentary.” Consequently, those particular remarks were removed from the parliamentary proceedings. This exchange further exacerbated the political tensions surrounding the NEET paper leak issue.
