Brad Pitt is set to reprise his role as Cliff Booth, the enigmatic Hollywood stuntman from Quentin Tarantino’s acclaimed 2019 film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. This return will be featured in an upcoming spin-off directed by David Fincher, which Netflix has named The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth. The film promises to delve deeper into Booth’s mysterious past as he maneuvers through a transforming film industry landscape.
Scheduled for a special two-week global IMAX release starting November 25, the movie will later be available for streaming on Netflix from December 23. Notably, Quentin Tarantino, who crafted the original film, has penned the screenplay for this new venture. Despite his enthusiasm for the Cliff Booth storyline, Tarantino has chosen not to direct, as he expressed a desire for his final directorial work not to be a sequel.
Set in 1977, eight years after the events of the original film, the spin-off will explore how Booth adapts to the evolving world of Hollywood. Joining Pitt, the film boasts a strong ensemble cast including Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian. The original cast of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood included major stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, with the narrative centered on the late 1960s Los Angeles backdrop.
Directing the new spin-off is David Fincher, renowned for his work on films such as Fight Club, Zodiac, The Social Network, and Gone Girl. His experience extends to Netflix series like House of Cards and Mindhunter, promising a fresh creative direction for the project. Tarantino, on the other hand, is celebrated for his distinctive directorial style in films like Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, Django Unchained, and The Hateful Eight.
This project signifies a significant reunion between Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino’s iconic character, with Fincher’s involvement suggesting a unique and innovative take on the character’s journey. The return of Cliff Booth, under Fincher’s direction, offers an exciting fusion of creative talents poised to captivate audiences both in theaters and on streaming platforms.
