Arya Singh, a NEET-UG 2026 candidate, along with her father, Rakesh Singh, a former soldier, has traveled to Delhi to protest outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) office. Their sit-in follows the NTA’s dismissal of claims that examination results were altered. The agency refuted allegations from several candidates, stating that the images of results circulating on social media were not genuine. According to the NTA, these images were fabricated, digitally manipulated, or generated using artificial intelligence, and they do not match official records.
Originating from Kanpur, Arya Singh has alleged discrepancies in her NEET-UG 2026 re-examination results. She reported that her score was initially shown as 570 before it was purportedly revised to 167 marks. Arya expressed concerns over the OMR sheet provided by the NTA, citing errors such as a missing question number and duplicate serial numbers. After raising objections to these discrepancies, she claimed that the agency then sent another OMR sheet, this time reflecting a score of 609 marks.
Rakesh Singh, Arya’s father, voiced dissatisfaction with the NTA’s explanation and indicated that their protest would continue until they receive satisfactory answers. He appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for intervention, calling for action against perceived irregularities in the examination process. The NTA, on its part, has consistently denied these allegations, asserting that all original OMR sheets are consistent with the declared scores and that official examination documents are equipped with secure identifiers such as barcodes and QR codes.
This controversy is tied to the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, which took place on June 21 following the cancellation of the original exam in May amid claims of a paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation is currently conducting an investigation into the case, seeking to uncover the truth behind these allegations and ensure the integrity of the examination process.
